In 1995, Dresser-Rand Enginuity's founders developed a mission focused on helping the gas pipeline industry meet increasingly stringent and costly exhaust emissions regulations for industrial internal combustion engines without sacrificing efficiency and reliability. The initial efforts were primarily centered around leading key industry field and laboratory research programs related to the formation, mitigation, and modeling of exhaust emissions, both criteria pollutants such as NOx and CO, as well as HAPS pollutants including formaldehyde. Dresser-Rand Enginuity's leadership in these areas of research played a vital role in industry efforts to successfully influence federal and state regulators - the benefits of which are still being realized today.

Following the early period of industry research and testing, we quickly began to shift technical talent into the area of applied development, demonstration, and evaluation of key combustion control technologies with the potential to aid the industry in cost - effectively meeting the regulatory challenges. As a result, we focused on developing advanced technology solutions that solved real problems in the field, giving our customers an emissions, performance, and reliability advantage. Working in concert with key technology providers and industry representatives, we provided the leadership that was crucial to delivering advanced technology solutions to help meet the industry's ever-growing emissions compliance challenge.

Along the way, we have successfully introduced numerous technology solutions related to industrial gas-fired engines. Some, including HPFi, were the first commercial installations of their kind. Others opened up the door to new plateaus of performance, reliability, and operability. All of them, however, were absolutely focused on serving the very challenging needs of our customers.
